Resuscitative Efforts: a Preview

Tonight's the night. At 6:03 pm Mountain Time my first album in over a decade, Resuscitative Efforts debuts. 


Resuscitative Efforts track list:


  1. 6:04 (First Breaths) tells you that I almost didn't make it past 6:03 42 years ago.

  2. Blood and Oxygen is a bluesy journey back to songwriting. 

  3. Deep Inside is a rock n’ roll soul tune with biting questions. 

  4. On the Interlude is a short narrative about my musical hiatus and the name of the album. 

  5. Custom Tailored 2025 Remix is a present day spin on one of my 2008 originals. 

  6. Shedding Blues is all about the journey back to myself but with sounds I've never played with.

  7. Folsom Prison Blues is a cover of a Johnny Cash classic that I did back in 2010.

  8. Voice of the Other is social commentary and observation from someone whose voice has been “too loud.” 

  9. Something Like Wild Thing is one hundred percent improvisation to an old school sound. Meaning, I hit record and whatever lyrics came out is what's on the track. 

  10. Greater Bright the Song is a poem I wrote this year for a poetry contest and turned it into a different kind of song. 

  11. Resuscitative Jams is musical fun and sound exploration. 

  12. Shadows is a song with a glimmer of internal turmoil.

  13. Silent Nights and the Sound of the Match is an awakening of storytelling and musical reclaiming. 

  14. Welcome Home is the album's heart and only early release. 

  15. June Tunes is a love story about music itself with harmony unlike any track on the album. 

  16. The Next Chapter in Hell is a beat ridding tune of reckoning. 

  17. Baby One More Time is a Britney Spears cover that I recorded in 2009. 

  18. Wait for the Slice is something I could only put to words in a song. 

  19. Permanent Grooves is what it took to gain this, lose this, and reclaim this. It's the soul of the album. 

  20. Family Values is something you're just going to have to hear and feel. 

  21. Train Back to Town is one of my earlier returns to songwriting and new sound exploration. It's a story of stories.

  22. Brain Bleed is the first song I've ever written specifically about my Cerebral Palsy. It's informative and declarative. 

  23. In the Streetlight Sunlight and Twilight Edition is essentially In the Streetlight part 3, extending off of the sunlight edition. This version was not on the retrospective EP. 

  24. Redemption Song the Twinkle that Brought the Music Home is an audio edition of the post on this blog by the same name. 

  25. In the Streetlight 2024 Remaster, like the sunlight and twilight edition returns to the song that saved my music from extinction. The difference is primarily the fifth verse, emotion, and style. The opening of the original recording is infused into this edition and verse three breaks me open for real. Without this, Resuscitative Efforts may not have happened at all. 

  26. In the Streetlight (Original Recording) is the original song without additional verses from the later editions. It originally debuted on Of Loss and Love in 2007 and was recorded in 2009. It's on this album because this song is more than a song for me. It is a beacon of love from long ago that brought me back to myself. It is in my heart and soul. 


Buckle up because we're going for a ride tonight. Resuscitative Efforts will be released in twelve hours at 6:03 pm Mountain Time, August 1, 2025. It's a joy to share my music with the world again.

What God's Got to Do with It?

“Can I pray for God to heal your legs?” Is a question I was sincerely asked by a well-meaning college student. I was in a position to be asked questions like that because I spent most of my life in the Church in some way or another. Church gave me hope amidst the struggles, it gave me a space to belong sometimes and sometimes not, it gave me my first career (largely influenced by my Cerebral Palsy), and it gave me a different lens to see the world – where people like me were included in the eyes of God. Life in 2D and Redirecting Challenges

In my first post, I laid down an introduction to my life with Cerebral Palsy and the other parts of my lived experience that intersect with the CP. The wider context is important to me because I want to honor the role CP plays in my life every day, I also want to honor my other life shaping experiences, and I want to bring awareness to the whole human being living with a disability.  I was born with Cerebral Palsy. To the best of my knowledge, I have Spastic Diplegia CP. I put it that way because I'm piecing parts of my story together with missing data.
